MIDDLE DUNGEONS LEVEL FIVE 92 CONCERN TROLL AND WHITE KNIGHT.

92 CONCERN TROLL AND WHITE KNIGHT. A troll and a man in brilliant white plate armor and fancy great helm are sitting at a table talking. A heavy chest is near the north wall.

The troll is making arguments expressing concern about the makers of the dungeon, their goals, and what it will take to get the dungeon “back on track”. The man is arguing that the troll should stop criticizing the makers of the dungeon, then he defends the status quo.

The chest has eight locks and is chained to the wall. It holds 5500 gold crescents and a wand of illusion (65 charges, command word “fish pimples”).

For every round spent in the room while the two are arguing, each person must save vs spells twice. Failing the first saving throw costs one point of intelligence. Failing the second costs one point of wisdom.

Concern Troll (AC 4; MV 12”; HD 6+6; hp 38; #AT 2 claws and 1 bite; D 5-8/5-8/2-12; SA Intelligence drain; SD Regenerate, surprised only on a 1; XP 1004)

All other dungeon denizens, even mindless slimes, avoid this room so it is free of wandering monsters.

MIDDLE DUNGEONS 91 POOL ROOM.

91 POOL ROOM. The floor is decorated in blue tile while the walls are orange and purple checkered tiles. The ceiling is glowing golden yellow. Strangely, six trees with copious amounts of purple fruit resembling eggplants grow in large clay pots, arranged about the pool. When sampled, the fruit tastes like unusually sweet pineapple. The four foot deep pool holds fresh water which is always cool. The volume of water changes completely once per hour, so even if it is soiled, it will soon return to cleanliness. This is accomplished through tiny holes near the base of the pool.

The 19 hit point ogre has a huge flail (d6+3 vs S and M, 2d4+2 vs L). The head of the flail is actually a human skull cast in black iron and the weapon is of impressive artistic quality. MIDDLE DUNGEONS LEVEL FIVE 82 PRIVATE ROOM.

82 PRIVATE ROOM. This room is furnished as a private bathroom. There is a massive black wooden wardrobe and a six foot tall standing oval mirror. The walls are also all mirrors.

The wardrobe holds eight black silk robes (90 gold crescents each), black towels, and washcloths.

The mirror is actually a window into the Abyss, and if rubbed it will visit the lair of a succubus. She will happily interact with party members, attempting to get them to break the mirror, which will loose her into the room. If she succeeds in doing so, she will probably not hang around to fight, as she detests melee, unless she senses the party is very weak. Instead she will fly away to go cause trouble elsewhere. If the mirror glass is broken, the window to the Abyss is closed forever. If the mirror is taken out of the dungeon intact, it is worth 1000 gold crescents as a curiosity.

Succubus (AC 0; MV 12”/18”; HD 6; hp 34; #AT 2 or 1; D 1-3/1-3 or dagger of venom; SA Energy drain, magic use, psionics; SD +1 or better weapon to hit; MR 70%; XP 2304)

Gaspar's Mindless Thralls, Neutral male human Fighter (AC 7; MV 12”; F4; hp 20 each; #AT 1; D Short sword +1 due to strength; XP 190 each)

These two are former rivals of Gaspar and each have a gold spike (40 gold crescents) driven into their foreheads, the source of Gaspar's control. They wear no helmet and their eyes are white on white. Gaspar doesn't care what happens to them. Each time he takes damage, he may roll a 1d20 and if he rolls a 15 or better, one of the thralls has interposed their body and takes the wound instead.

If the circlet is taken from Gaspar, whoever wears it will be able to mind control the thralls. If the spikes are removed from their foreheads they must make a system shock survival roll vs Constitution of 12 (80%) or die on the spot. If they survive, they will be freed.

The floor tiles are glossy black and a carpet made from displacer beast hide (400 gold crescents) is in the center of the room. The walls are mirrors. A huge chest is in the southwest corner. This chest is unlocked but protected by a poisoned needle and contains 254 gold crescents (loose), a sack of 315 silver spanners, a small black felt bag with 23 copper pieces, a potion of stone giant strength (green, tastes like pepper) and an obsidian and gold clasp worth 130 gold crescents.

77 FEAST AND TROPHY HALL. Normally, 2d4 thraces will be here.

Thraces (AC 7; MV 12”; F2; #AT 1; D Short sword +1 due to strength; XP 35 + 3/hp)

Each gladiator has 2d10 gold crescents.

There is a centrally located brick firepit. Trapped inside is a minor fire elemental.

Fire Elemental (AC 2; MV 12”; HD 5; hp 23; #AT 1; D 2-12; SA Burn inflammables; SD +1 or better weapons needed to hit; XP 285)

If a fight is going against them, the gladiators will be tempted to ask the elemental for help. They are loathe to do this since it requires a sacrifice of precious items or blood after the fight.

Above the exits from the room are magic glyphs, similar to glyphs of warding. They are visible to the naked eye and are the word for 'water'. Clerics have a 20% base chance of recognizing the symbol, plus an additional 5% per level. They can be erased as usual by a magic-user and this will allow the elemental to leave the room.

The trophies on the walls are weapons from rival gladiator factions. Most are battered and scarcely usable, but there is also a trident of warning.
