BRIDGE. This area is a cobbled stone bridge to the Ground Level of the Inner Ward. It is open to the sky and affords a view of the
steep drop to the south. It traverses a rushing river which flows
from north to south and has a depth of about ten feet. The river
emerges from a series of arches in the wall to the north and before
reaching this point it is underground beneath the mountainside. The
river becomes a steep waterfall just a few feet south of the castle,
plunging down about 40 feet and emptying into a small lake before
continuing as a river to the south.
